about

Emily Chu
Director of Product Design at IPG Mediabrands, Kinesso
Assistant Professor at Parsons School of Design
My time in the design field spans animation, front-end development, data visualization design and product design for think tanks, academia, finance and ad agencies. Most of my work solves problems for data-intensive organizational and enterprise applications, inspired by consumer UX scenarios to modernize legacy systems. I look for opportunities to understand problems from all perspectives and find common priorities, designing experience blueprints that anticipate the rapidly evolving, dynamic nature of products in today's marketplace.
I've found the most satisfaction in developing and growing teams of designers, both in the classroom and in the workplace. I love working with and curating groups of designers with a variety of different skillsets and backgrounds, leveraging unique strengths to come together and make an impact collectively.
Some things I'm up to in my personal time include: experimenting with computational and multimedia art, adding pieces to my recycled packaging interior design series, looking up recipes where I can leverage my torch blower, and a lot of traveling and learning from other cultures and histories.
